Does looking good really mean you can give advice?

Okay so I'm a jerk. I admit that already. When I see something wrong I just have to say something about it and stick to my guns...my values. Like when my friend threw a piece of garbage on the ground. I argued with him for about half an hour to pick it up and throw it in the garbage bin. Gotta keep the streets clean you know?

So when someone posts something like this on a fitness forum:
Let's face it, if you are like me, whenever you want to learn something, you want to learn it from the very best.

So when it comes to health and fitness, who are the best?

That's pretty obvious; the fittest!

And who are the fittest?

Olympic and World Champion athletes.

Mark McKoy is such a man, and he has put together a program with the input of many of his peers from other sports: tennis, soccer, track, auto racing, etc.

If you want to learn from the best -- and you do -- then Mark is your man.
I have to be a Jerk and post something like this:
I'm sorry Nicky but I am going to have to politely disagree with you. Being fit and maintaining a level of fitness is key to any fitness professional being successful....BUT....I know a lot of "Fit" looking people who know absolutely nothing about health and fitness who I wouldn't trust to train my brother or grandmother.

Take a fitness model, athlete or a bodybuilder for example. These people look absolutely amazing with their clothes off but 90% of them could not devise a program for an overweight/sedentary individual just starting to get active. 90% of them get their programs designed by Personal Trainers who have studied years (and continue to study) of education on health and fitness.

I also know some people who do not look "The Fittest" but who are the top fitness professionals in the world (ex. Alwyn Cosgrove). These people know what it takes to help someone lose weight but they don't look the part at all.

I guess I'm just writing this because I don't want people to go under the false pretense that looking "Fit" automatically means that you can train anyone.

I definitely do not want to take away anything You or Mark do for a living because I am confident in your abilities to train. But just because you look the part doesn't mean you have the abilities to get everyone else looking that way.

Please don't take this post the wrong way. I just have to speak my peace.

Great work on the site and looking forward to communicating with you in the future :)

PS. Okay so maybe I'm a nice Jerk. I'm still a jerk though.

Why the hell am I blogging?

I'm going to make this short and sweet:

Who am I?

I'm a self proclaimed fitness expert who has studied the best in his industry and continues to be excited, disgusted, happy, frustrated with everything in the fitness industry. I reside in Canada so that automatically means I live in an igloo surrounded by polar bears and ice caps. I like to swear a lot (I'm trying to work on this...) and I love every aspect of fitness and people.

What is my mission?

To make a small difference....

I am blogging for various reasons such as:

1) Getting things off my chest that piss me off about the fitness industry, people, things, animals, the fitness industry and the fitness industry.

2) When I'm excited about things that I learn or things that I believe people need to know I need others to hear it regardless if they want to hear it or not.

3) My opinions are not edited out. So this is me bad grammars and all.

4) What I have to say has relevance to everyone that reads this because I said so and thats that.

That actually seemed pretty long. Another thing: I can get long winded and rant off topic about various things that get me excited. So live with it.

Looking forward to making a difference/pissing people off.

Ciao
